In October I spent a week on my work experience placement at SCIAF. For my work experience, I wanted to go somewhere that I am interested in and hope to have a career in one day. I chose SCIAF because they do so much good work in developing countries and help those who need it most.
The staff at the SCIAF office were very friendly and always worked hard. I had a varied range of activities to do while I was there, going from office work, campaigns work and even visiting a school. I really enjoyed seeing what SCIAF was like behind the scenes and how they organise the programmes and projects.
The people who work at SCIAF were very friendly and welcoming, although I was only there for 4 days; I got to have a taste of every department and what they all individually do. Overall, my favourite part of my work experience placement was the visiting Notre Dame primary because I love working with children, so I enjoyed talking to them about the work that SCIAF do and how they can get involved.
The children were very keen to learn and had some background knowledge on what SCIAF do. I enjoyed talking to the primary 5’s and discussing their views on world hunger and what action they would like to see being taken in the future. The SCIAF office is a very welcoming, happy place where everyone is like one big family. I loved being here on my placement, and hopefully I will be back again soon.
